Testimonials

When the gentleman who had cut my grass for years passed away, I asked my son to help me find a new lawn care service. He recommended Hardee’s Grassworks. Scott Hardee personally came to the house and talked with me. I found him to be a delightful young man and I knew that he was someone I could trust. I found his rates to be reasonable, and I really appreciated that he could set up an automatic draft payment through the bank so I don’t have to worry about writing checks and sending bills.

Scott’s crew comes twice a month to cut the grass, trim, and edge. They are good people and they do a very nice job. I appreciate that they keep a regular schedule and that they are very knowledgeable about shrubbery and landscaping too. I have referred Hardee’s Grassworks to others and I give you, dear reader, my strong recommendation for Scott Hardee and his company.

I learned about Hardee’s Grassworks via word of mouth: Scott Hardee and his team came highly recommended to me. Upon meeting Scott, I immediately understood why. He’s a nice guy with a solid work ethic and he brings a strong sense of professionalism to his business. Scott has excellent equipment, but more importantly, he has a hard-working and loyal staff. I appreciate that both my wife and my daughters feel comfortable when Scott’s crew works at our house. Unlike most lawn care companies, there is very little staff turnover at Hardee’s Grassworks because Scott takes good care of both his employees and his customers.

As a full service lawn care company, Scott and his crew can handle almost anything. Our property sits on the water and requires the crew to cut around bulkheads; they do an excellent job. I’ve also asked them to remove trees, trim shrubs, and handle a few unusual requests. No job is too big or too small for Hardee’s Grassworks.

I’ve referred Scott to several people in my neighborhood, including an 85-year-old with very high standards. Every time I see my neighbor he says: “You know, Dallas, that Hardee boy sure does a good job!” I couldn’t agree more.

As a manager of commercial office buildings, I have worked with many lawn maintenance companies. Last year, I started working with Scott Hardee of Hardee’s Grassworks. He is one of the most professional operations I’ve encountered.

Communicating with Scott is a pleasure and his company’s work is beyond approach. Not only does Scott make it a point to learn the expectations of his clients, he also takes a hands-on approach with his employees, supervising them personally to ensure they exceed those expectations. In addition, he generously shares knowledge, technique and referrals to help us achieve the best appearance for our properties.

I should add that the office buildings I manage were not built on razed lots and designed with minimal landscaping. In fact, one of the buildings received an award from the City of Wilmington for keeping indigenous trees, flora and fauna as a part of the landscape. Hardee’s Grassworks handles much more than mowing and edging—they also care for old-growth tress, wax myrtles and cattails that grow in natural wetlands surrounding the property. In addition, they do an excellent job of keeping the driveways, parking lots and walkways free of pine cones, pine needles, and natural debris.

Scott keeps everything looking good and he even offers suggestions on improving the appearance of the property. Whether you are an individual seeking residential lawn care or a commercial property in need of specialized maintenance for a large green space, Scott Hardee is the man to call!

I handled my own lawn care for years, but following my back surgery, I found it more difficult. My new found physical limitations, coupled with an increasingly demanding business travel schedule, prompted me to delegate lawn maintenance.

I was referred to Hardee’s Grassworks by another professional landscaper who was not accepting new clients. Scott Hardee and his team have been taking care of my lawn ever since. I appreciate that Scott is dependable—I can count on him to do whatever he says he is going to do. And, I have always been pleased with his work.

In addition to regular lawn maintenance, Hardee’s Grassworks has cleared marshlands behind our home and completed a landscaping project in our backyard. His team dug out a patch of grass that was not thriving and replaced it with a pond, rose bushes, native grasses and bark mulch. Scott is knowledgeable about his trade, and he is part of strong network of professionals. He recently recommended a chemical and fertilizer company with whom I’ve also been very pleased.

Turning to a professional lawn care service was a smart decision. I enjoy the benefits of skilled work as well as the luxury of quality free time. Now, when I have a little time off, I play golf instead of mowing the lawn!

Like many teenagers of my generation, I spent summers cutting grass for my neighbors. I know quite a bit about cutting grass, and I mowed my own lawn for years. But as my family and my business grew, my life got very busy. During my precious free time on Saturdays, I would find myself spending half the day on lawn maintenance. Although I used to enjoy mowing, it now felt like a chore. Was this the best use of my time when I’d rather be enjoying my family or working on my business?

Sometimes, due to a busy weekend schedule, I’d cut corners and save the weed-eating and the edging for some other time. Or, I’d wait a little too long to cut the grass and when I did get around to it, it would take forever to get the job done! Not only was I spending my time on an unwelcome chore, I wasn’t able to give the task enough time to be fully satisfied with the results. Furthermore, as I’ve gotten older I’ve become more sensitive to allergies. That freshly cut grass made my face itch.

When I met Scott Hardee of Hardee’s Grassworks, learning about his business made re-evaluate how I was spending my time. Here was a professional with extensive landscaping knowledge, great tools, and a reliable team. His prices were reasonable, and his men could do the job faster and better than I’d been doing it. Why wasn’t I delegating this chore? It made sense from every angle, even a financial one. I could make a lot more money working on my own business in the time it takes to mow the lawn than I’d “save” by mowing the lawn myself.

I promptly hired Scott and his team to take over my lawn maintenance. I’m on their schedule for service on Mondays, and I can tell you that it’s a great way to start the week. When I arrive home after a long day of work, I’m greeted by a clean, crisp lawn that’s been cut in the right direction, edged and blown off. It makes the house look sharp and I catch a little buzz knowing that it’s a job well done (that I didn’t have to do myself!).

Scott has also saved me from a DIY project gone wrong. I took it upon myself to trim the bushes in our front yard. My wife maintains that I didn’t trim them, I butchered them. We called in Scott, and sure enough, I had trimmed the bushes incorrectly, damaging their future growth. Scott cut them back a bit further using the proper technique to restore them to health. A year later they came back looking healthy, full, and beautiful.

After two years of relying on Hardee’s Grassworks for my lawn and landscaping needs, I’ve decided to retire from lawn care. The only time you’ll hear me talking about edging and mowing and trimming is when I’m reliving the glory days of my youth or telling yet another person how much I love the service Hardee’s Grassworks provides. Everybody’s happiest this way—me, my wife, my neighbors, and most of all, my yard! Give Scott a call—I’m sure that he can make you happier too.

After grubs destroyed our Bermuda grass, my husband and I decided to give our yard a face lift by removing a tree and planting new grass. I conducted an internet search for ‘tree removal’ services and decided to interview three businesses from my search including Hardee’s Grassworks. I asked my father, a retired builder, to assist me with my interviews. Due to his years of experience, my father has a good eye for assessing whether people will be honest and hardworking. He liked Scott Hardee best and so did I.

Scott and his crew did an expert job of removing an old tree with a huge stump and they saw the job through to completion. My husband planned on planting our new grass himself, but he’s a really busy guy. I felt we should protect our investment (St. Augustine grass is expensive!) by letting professionals take on the challenge of getting the sod to take root. We ultimately decided to have Hardee’s Grassworks do the job, and I’m so glad we left it to an expert.

Scott and his crew laid the sod in a timely manner, ensuring that the lines were straight. Then, they came back several times to ensure the grass was establishing and the roots were growing. Scott gave me many helpful recommendations on using fertilizers, combating weeds, and caring for the grass. He even generously shared his knowledge, giving me recommendations on shrubs and palms for the landscaping that I did on my own. When I ran into him at Lowe’s one day, he not only said “Hi”, he took a few minutes to talk with me and help me pick out plants!

It’s been almost a year since Hardee’s Grassworks helped us with our lawn makeover, and we’re still delighted with the results. Paying for a skilled, courteous, and helpful professional was definitely a wise investment!
